Tetsuo OKADA, Vice President for Risk and Compliance

Tetsuo Okada has been vice president for Institute-wide safety and compliance at Tokyo Tech since February 2021.

Prior to his current post, Okada was vice president for safety and compliance from April 2018 to January 2021. During this period, he served concurrently as professor at the School of Science, as he does to this day.

Okada began his academic career in 1986 as assistant professor at Shizuoka University's Faculty of Liberal Arts, where he became associate professor three years later. In 1995, Okada joined Tokyo Tech's Graduate School of Science as associate professor. He was promoted to professor in 2000, and then served as dean of both the School of Science and Graduate School of Science from 2015 to 2016. After the two schools merged in April 2016, Okada remained in the position of dean until his initial appointment as vice president in 2018.

Okada earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in chemistry from Kyoto University in 1981, 1983, and 1986 respectively.
